Game Preview

Predicted Score: Redskins 17, Bears 16
Chicago: The Bears and Redskins sit at 5-7 both needing a four-game winning streak to have any shot at the playoffs. Chicago's hope rides with Rex Grossman who seems to have gotten rid of the interception bug during his last three starts but doesn't wow anybody with his mediocre stats. Adrian Peterson has subbed for Cedric Benson just fine, even getting involved in the passing game (12 catches 123 yds the last two weeks) and can easily match Benson's mediocre rushing numbers. In an attempt to add a spark to the offense the coaching staff unveiled the hurry-up offense last week, which allowed Grossman the freedom to go 5-of-5 for 65 yards and a touchdown. So don't be surprised to see the Bears run this a couple times against Washington, but limit its use to keep Grossman from throwing to the opposing team… an ugly game that should be a "pick em."
- Start: RB Adrian Peterson, Bears D/ST
- Consider: WR Bernard Berrian, TE Desmond Clark
- Sit: QB Rex Grossman, TE Greg Olsen, RB Cedric Benson, WR Devin Hester, WR Muhsin Muhammad, K Robbie Gould, QB Brian Griese
Washington: The Redskins have been through a trying time with the death of Sean Taylor, a close loss at home to a subpar Bills team and now face a short week as they get ready for the Bears. With Taylor's funeral taking place on Monday the team will need to refocus quickly as a win against Chicago will keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Clinton Portis has been relatively absent the last three weeks averaging 69 total yds per game with only one score. He left last week's game with a knee injury but is expected to play. On the other hand, Chris Cooley has been hot with 21 catches and 2 TDs during the same time period and leads the team in all receiving categories with 53 catches, 584 yds, and 7 TDs. The team says things are getting back to normal now that the funeral is over. If so, they should handle the Bears at home but this has all the makings of a close, low-scoring game with offensive numbers hard to come by.
- Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley
- Consider: WR Santana Moss, Redskins D/ST
- Sit: QB Jason Campbell WR Antwaan Randle El, RB Ladell Betts
