Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Lions 24, Eagles 17
Detroit: The Lions are looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 1980! Their chances will increase if QB Jon Kitna can stay on the field. He left the game last week in the first half with a concussion only to return later in the game helping Detroit to a 20-17 OT victory against the Vikes. The Lions continue to spread the field with their four-WR set making Williams, Furrey, Johnson, and McDonald all viable plays from week to week. Detroit leads the league with 682 passing yards while ranks 26th in rushing. Tatum Bell will have some company this week as Kevin Jones looks to return from his Lis Franc injury. Expect him to be limited if he plays at all.
- Start: QB Jon Kitna, WR Roy Williams, WR Mike Furrey, WR Shaun McDonald
- Consider: WR Calvin Johnson, RB Tatum Bell, Lions D/ST
- Sit: TE Dan Campbell
Philadelphia: I'm not breaking any news here, but Donovan McNabb is not healthy. He's having problems eluding the rush and his lack of mobility is affecting what made him a great fantasy QB… his ability to run and keep drives alive with his feet. The Eagles can only burden Brian Westbrook so much, who by the way is getting his knee looked at as we speak. Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown are not creating separation from their defenders and L.J. Smith is struggling with a groin injury. The result? An 0-2 beginning with the good chance of being 0-3 by 4:00 PM EST on Sunday.
- Start: RB Brian Westbrook, K David Akers
- Consider: QB Donovan McNabb, WR Reggie Brown, WR Kevin Curtis, TE L.J. Smith (inj)
- Sit: TE Matt Schobel, Eagles D/ST
