Game Preview

Predicted Score: Chargers 17, Packers 14
San Diego: The Chargers are coming off a blowout loss to the Patriots and seem to be sputtering on offense. L.T. is averaging 1.9 yards per carry and the passing game is non-existent outside of Antonio Gates. I'm sure defenses at some point will figure out that Gates is the go-to guy in the Chargers passing attack… I mean what's it going to take? He has twice as many targets (20) than any other Chargers wideout and Rivers stares at Gates like he's a busty supermodel. It isn't like he joined the team yesterday. The Packers would do well to put two defenders on the All-Pro TE and call it a day. Heck, with their improving defense and home-field advantage they come out with a victory. But…
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates, QB Philip Rivers
- Consider: WR Vincent Jackson
- Sit: WR Craig Davis, WR Malcom Floyd, Chargers D/ST
Green Bay: … in reality Green Bay has played above their heads the first two weeks. I love Brett Favre but his decision-making at times still rivals rookies in this league and leaves me scratching my head. And while DeShawn Wynn is a nice feel-good story as for all you cheeseheads he's not a back that will take this to team the playoffs… and apparently Brandon Jackson isn't either. Vernand Morency may give them an added boost once he returns from a knee injury but he's missed practice again this week and will likely be deactivated. The Packers are lacking weapons and won't have enough fire-power to overcome Tomlinson and Gates. To make matters worse, WR James Jones left practice Thursday with an apparent hamstring injury. Will there be anybody left for Brett Favre to throw to come Sunday?
- Start: WR Donald Driver
- Consider: QB Brett Favre, RB Brandon Jackson, WR James Jones (inj), TE Donald Lee, Packers D/ST, K Mason Crosby
- Sit: RB DeShawn Wynn, WR Greg Jennings (inj), RB Vernand Morency (inj)
