Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Chiefs 17, Vikings 13
Minnesota: The Vikings couldn't get out of their own way last week on their way to a 20-17 loss to Detroit. Minnesota committed 12 penalties and 5 turnovers including 4 interceptions by QB Tarvaris Jackson who will likely be sidelined this week with a groin injury. Kelly Holcomb took the majority of snaps Wednesday and Thursday and will likely get the start. Minnesota's defense remains strong Adrian Peterson gives them a spark on offense but this team will be heading nowhere fast until Jackson gains a firm grasp of the NFL game. I think playing Holcomb gives them a better chance to win this game at Arrowhead but given their lack of weapons on the outside, the Vikes will need a defensive or special teams score to pull this one out.
- Start: RB Adrian Peterson
- Consider: Vikings D/ST
- Sit: QB Tarvaris Jackson (inj) RB Chester Taylor (inj), WR Troy Williamson, WR Bobby Wade, WR Sidney Rice, TE Visanthe Shiancoe
Kansas City: Much like Minnesota the Chiefs have stumbled and bumbled their way to 0-2 start largely in part to penalties, turnovers, and lack of offense. A game at home against a similar style team is exactly what the doctor ordered and although I'm predicting a close victory for the team in red, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kansas City pulled away in the fourth quarter and wins by 20. DE Jared Allen returns from suspension giving an already solid defense a shot in the arm. RB Larry Johnson has yet to get on track with only 28 rushing attempts through two games. He'll need that many if the Chiefs are to pull out a victory against Minnesota. QB Damon Huard is 6-0 as a starter at home.
- Start: RB Larry Johnson, TE Tony Gonzalez
- Consider: WR Dwayne Bowe, QB Damon Huard, K Dave Rayner
- Sit: WR Samie Parker, WR Jeff Webb
