Predicted Score: Packers 20, Broncos 17
Green Bay: The Packers have climbed to a 5-1 record with a one-dimensional offense that apparently has a clear-cut number one running back. Head coach Mike McCarthy said today that DeShawn Wynn is the starter. "He's in the No. 1 slot right now," McCarthy said, "so he has an opportunity to take it and do something with it, so we'll see what he can do." Don't expect a change in philosophy… Favre's been throwing at a 68% clip because Green Bay's running game is, well… not good. Most people will say that's not a winning formula but it works for the Packers and should work this week against the Broncos. Green Bay does get a break and a chance to improve their rushing game against a weak Broncos run defense. It might also help their cause if Jason Elam stubbed his toe during pregame warm-ups.
- Start: QB Brett Favre, RB Brandon Jackson, WR Donald Driver,
- Consider: RB DeShawn Wynn, WR Greg Jennings TE Donald Lee, Packers D/ST, K Mason Crosby
- Sit: WR James Jones RB Vernand Morency (inj)
Denver: This may be the only game in town Monday night if the Red Sox continue to lay waste to the Rockies, but I'm sure the Broncos won't mind having center stage. They preformed pretty well in that role last week, beating a solid Steelers team Sunday night on another last second field goal by Jason Elam. Travis Henry continues to play despite an impending suspension but may have a limited role this week as he recovers from bruised ribs. Regardless if its Henry or Young, both should have a tough time with Packers run defense that has only allowed one 100-yd rusher this season and with Jay Cutler missing top wideout Javon Walker, this game should be close but a victory for the Pack.
- Start: WR Brandon Marshall, WR Brandon Stokley, K Jason Elam
- Consider: TE Daniel Graham, QB Jay Cutler, RB Travis Henry, RB Selvin Young
- Sit: TE Tony Scheffler
