Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Cowboys 20, Dolphins 17
Dallas: To every Romo owners' delight the Cowboys came out throwing against the Giants last week targeting TE Jason Witten (6 catches 116 yds, 1 TD) and eventually getting T.O. involved (3 catches, 87 yds, 2 TDs) in the second half. The loss of Terry Glenn for a minimum of 3 weeks gives an opportunity to Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd. Crayton was targeted 4 times, Hurd twice as both ended up with 51 yds receiving. The RB rotation with Jones (16 carries) and Barber (11 carries) continues from 2006 with rumblings by head coach Wade Phillips of possibly getting more redzone touches for Jones. I'll believe it when I see it. For now, the offense is clicking but faces a tougher test in Miami this week.
- Start: QB Tony Romo, RB Marion Barber, WR Terrell Owens, TE Jason Witten
- Consider: RB Julius Jones, WR Patrick Crayton, Cowboys D/ST
- Sit:WR Terry Glenn (inj)
Miami: As predicted the Dolphins offensive line remains a weak spot rendering the running game useless last week against Washington. Ronnie Brown (11 carries 32 yds) never got on track and Jesse Chatman (7 carries, 15 yards) didn't fare any better. Trent Green showed sparks in the passing game connecting with Chris Chambers but found little time to throw or secondary outlets to throw too. Look for that combo to hook up again this week against the Cowboys depleted secondary that gave up 3 scores to Plaxico Burress Sunday night. Dallas CB Terence Newman remains out with a foot injury leaving Jacques Reeves the whipping boy for opposing offensive coordinators until Newman's return.
- Start: WR Chris Chambers
- Consider: RB Ronnie Brown, QB Trent Green, TE David Martin, K Jay Feeley
- Sit:RB Jesse Chatman
