Game Preview

Predicted Score: Rams 21, 49ers 20
San Francisco: Alex Smith looked lost, TE Vernon Davis had 4 yds receiving, and Darrell Jackson dropped a make-able catch for a touchdown; definitely a Monday night to forget by San Francisco except they somehow came away with a victory. Perhaps things will be easier this week against St. Louis in a game that could come down to the wire. Frank Gore gets a crack at the Rams defense which allowed open lanes to DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams last week (156 rushing yards) and couldn't stop him a year ago when Gore averaged 130 yds and 1 TD in their two meetings. Temper your enthusiasm for the passing game until Smith has a better showing.
- Start: RB Frank Gore, WR Darrell Jackson, TE Vernon Davis
- Consider: QB Alex Smith, WR Arnaz Battle, 49ers D/ST
- Sit: WR Taylor Jacobs
St. Louis: The Rams suffered a big blow last week losing T Orlando Pace for the season with a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder. We'll see how his loss affects the Rams moving forward but their struggles in the running game (Jackson 18 carries 58 yds) and passing game (Bulger 22-42, 167 yds) last week have fantasy owners shaking their heads. It's too early to give up on the Rams offense that has chemistry at all the skill positions but another subpar week and we'll be in panic mode. WR Drew Bennett missed last week's game with a quadriceps injury but is practicing this week and listed as Probable.
- Start: QB Marc Bulger, RB Steven Jackson, WR Torry Holt, WR Isaac Bruce
- Consider: TE Randy McMichael, K Jeff Wilkins
- Sit:WR Drew Bennett
