Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Packers 24, Giants 21
Green Bay: Despite a Green Bay victory, Favre had very little success against the Eagles last week (23-42, 206 yds) and the running game with rookie Brandon Jackson wasn't much better (15 carries, 40 yds). Brett's decision-making ability is getting worse by the year making him a risky play for those of you getting penalized by turnovers. He does have a good opportunity this week facing a Giants defense that had no answer for Tony Romo and the Dallas passing game in Week 1, particularly routes over the middle by TE Jason Witten. WR Greg Jennings returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis. Follow to practice reports later this week as his return will de-value rookie WR James Jones.
- Start: QB Brett Favre, RB Brandon Jackson, WR Donald Driver, WR James Jones
- Consider: TE Donald Lee, Packers D/ST, K Mason Crosby
- Sit:WR Greg Jennings, RB Vernand Morency (inj)
New York Giants: What a rough start for the Giants losing three top players to injury in a 45-35 loss to the Cowboys. QB Eli Manning (shoulder), RB Brandon Jacobs (knee), and starting DE Osi Umenyiora all finished the game on the sidelines. They're have been conflicting reports on the severity of Manning's shoulder injury but at present his is not participating in practice and will likely be a gametime decision. Play it safe and leave him on your bench this week. RB Derrick Ward received the bulk of the carries filling in for Jacobs who will likely be out at least 3 weeks with a sprained knee. RB Reuben Droughns should see more action this week but expect Ward to start and carry the load.
- Start: WR Plaxico Burress, TE Jeremy Shockey, RB Derrick Ward
- Consider: QB Jared Lorenzen, WR Amani Toomer, Giants D/ST
- Sit:QB Eli Manning (shoulder), RB Brandon Jacobs, WR Steve Smith
