Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Vikings 17, Packers 10

Minnesota: Adrian Peterson and the defense continue to be the bright spots for the Vikings. Kelly Holcomb is expected to get the start again at QB replacing the injured Tarvaris Jackson. Both have been ineffective, as the Vikings passing game lacks any big-play threats on the outside, inside, or over the middle. What does work is Adrian Peterson. He leads the team in rushing and receiving yards (160) benefiting from the loss of Chester Taylor. Taylor has practiced this week and will be a gametime decision. Coach Brad Childress has stated that Taylor will regain his starting postion when healthy. If so, Peterson's fantasy value will take a hit as the two will split carries.

  • Start: RB Adrian Peterson,
  • Consider: Vikings D/ST
  • Sit: QB Tarvaris Jackson, RB Chester Taylor (inj), WR Troy Williamson, WR Bobby Wade, WR Sidney Rice TE Visanthe Shiancoe

Green Bay: Do you think the Packers have been lucky getting off to a 3-0 start? Me too."It's hard to luck into three straight wins like we have," Favre said. Apparantly the starting QB thinks the same. Green Bay is one-dimensional on offense, relying on Brett Favre's arm to do most of their damage. This one-dimensional approach will catch up with them at some point and Week 4 against Minnesota, on the road, might be that point. The Vikings give up next to nothing on the ground and held the Lions pass-happy offense to 245 yards. Running back Brandon Jackson & wide receiver Greg Jennings have both missing practice time this week. Granted, the Vikings couldn't score with Paris Hilton after a three-day bender… on prom night, but Adrian Peterson and a stifling defense should be enough to bring the Packers back down to earth.

  • Start: QB Brett Favre, WR Donald Driver, Packers D/ST
  • Consider: RB DeShawn Wynn, WR Greg Jennings
  • Sit: RB Brandon Jackson(inj), TE Donald Lee, K Mason Crosby, WR James Jones, RB Vernand Morency (inj)
