Game Preview

Predicted Score: Chargers 27 Chiefs 17
San Diego: This game matches two teams with similar situations. Both have had troubles getting their running game on track and both are sporting records of 1-2. Both have faced some talented defenses in the early going (Chicago, New England, Green Bay, Minnesota) which will cause any offense to sputter. So who gets on track this week? Go with the home team. Antonio Gates has made a career playing against Kansas City scoring 8 TDs in 6 games, averaging 14.8 fpts in the process and L.T. (currently averaging 2.3 yds per carry) should find some open lanes agains the Chiefs which allowed 100+ yards to Adrian Peterson at home just last week.
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates
- Consider: QB Philip Rivers. WR Vincent Jackson, Chargers D/ST
- Sit: WR Craig Davis, WR Malcom Floyd
Kansas City: The Chiefs have struggled to get Larry Johnson on track and now a mysterious hamstring injury has surfaced. Johnson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but don't count on him missing this game and a chance to match yards and TDs with L.T. That may be hard to do considering the Chiefs rank next last in rushing offense and have yet to cross the goaline on the ground. In fact, they only have two offensive TDs this season courtesy of rookie Dwayne Bowe who is quickly becoming the number one option in the Chiefs mediocre passing game. I've heard a lot of talk this week about the Chiefs having a chance in this game… I just don't see it. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to Brodie Croyle on the field in the second half.
- Start: WR Dwayne Bowe, TE Tony Gonzalez
- Consider: RB Larry Johnson QB Damon Huard, WR Samie Parker
- Sit: WR Jeff Webb, K Dave Rayner
