Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Seahawks 20, 49ers 14
Seattle: Running back Shaun Alexander has been diagnosed with a broken wrist but will continue to play wearing a protective cast. It hasn't really affected his play to date as he ranks 11th among fantasy backs with 300 total yards and 2 TDs. He has 11 TDs (10 rush, 1 rec.) in 10 career games vs. San Francisco. As a team, the Seahawks are coming off a 24-21 win against the Bengals but have lost the last two meetings with the 49ers. Hasselbeck may struggle against a solid niners pass defense but should have ample opportunities until San Francisco finds their way on offense. Hasselbeck has thrown for at least 240 yds and 1 score in every game.
- Start: QB Matt Hasselbeck, RB Shaun Alexander, WR Deion Branch, K Josh Brown
- Consider: WR Bobby Engram, WR Nate Burleson, Seahawks D/ST
- Sit: TE Marcus Pollard
San Francisco: The 49ers have struggled their way to a 2-1 record getting the job done on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, the passing game ranks 31st in the league with Alex Smith averaging 154 yards per game and piling up a grand total of 1 TD. It won't help matters that TE Vernon Davis is out a couple weeks with a sprained knee. Frank Gore has yet to get on track but did have great games against Seattle last season averaging 178 yds and 1 TD. So don't be surprised if the Seahawks Seattle play tight to the line of scrimmage to stop Gore and force Alex Smith to make plays… advantage Seattle.
- Start: RB Frank Gore, WR Darrell Jackson
- Consider: 49ers D/ST
- Sit: TE Vernon Davis (inj), QB Alex Smith, WR Arnaz Battle, WR Taylor Jacobs
