Game Preview

Predicted Score: Seahawks 27, Saints 14
Seattle: The Seahawks got blanked in Pittsburgh last week for the first time since September of 2000. Adding injury to insult, wide receiver Deion Branch will miss the next two games with a sprained foot. WR Bobby Engram will replace Branch in the starting lineup at the flanker position opposite Nate Burleson. Look for the Hawks to get Shaun Alexander moving, bad wrist and all, against a so-so Saints front seven. This is the beginning of a nice stretch of winnable games for Seattle (Saints, Rams, Browns) as they compete for the title of "2nd Best Team in the NFC."
- Start: QB Matt Hasselbeck, RB Shaun Alexander, WR Bobby Engram
- Consider: WR Nate Burleson, TE Marcus Pollard, K Josh Brown
- Sit: WR Deion Branch, Seahawks D/ST
New Orleans: The hits just keep on coming to the New Orleans Saints. Tack on another loss thanks to the Panthers and John Kasay's late field goal. Their dismal 0-5 start is punctuated by Drew Brees leading the league in interceptions (9) to go with one (1) touchdown pass. Ouch. Reggie Bush's first crack at hauling the mail by his lonesome turned into decent yardage numbers (119 combined rushing/receiving) but his 3.2 per carry average is indicative of the Saints struggles this season. Their offensive line has struggled to open holes, protect Brees, and routinely commits penalties at in-opportune times. They say, never bet against a trend so I'll roll with Seattle in this contest until New Orleans crawls out of their funk.
- Start: RB Reggie Bush, WR Marques Colston
- Consider: QB Drew Brees, TE Eric Johnson WR Devery Henderson
- Sit: RB Deuce McAllister, TE Mark Campbell, K Olindo Mare
