Predicted Score: Chargers 20, Raiders 17
San Diego: After losing three of their first four games the Chargers apparently turned it around in Week 5 whipping the Broncos by 38… in Denver no less. The combination of Tomlinson and Turner racked up 287 total yards and quarterback Philip Rivers turned in a near perfect 151.4 passer rating. As impressive as San Diego was last week, I'm still not sold. This Jekyll-Hyde routine may bite them against the Raiders in what should be a closer game than most people think. However, history tells us to favor the Chargers; San Diego has won 7 straight against Oakland while the Raiders are starting to turn some heads, they'll be hard-pressed to contain Tomlinson and Gates on Sunday.
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates,
- Consider: QB Philip Rivers WR Vincent Jackson
- Sit: WR Craig Davis, WR Malcom Floyd, Chargers D/ST
Oakland: We've got a mess here in at the running back position. Dominic Rhodes and Justin Fargas split 1st-team snaps on Wednesday while LaMont Jordan (back) attempted to practice but left early. Head coach Lane Kiffin is uncertain how much Rhodes will be used, but noted "Jordan's health and the flow of the game would dictate Rhodes' workload Sunday." One thing we do know, Daunte Culpepper will make his second start at quarterback looking to recreate his odd stat-line from last week when he threw for two TDs and rushed for three. Neither Curry nor Porter has solidified themselves as number one receivers making them risky plays from week to week.
- Start: Daunte Culpepper
- Consider: RB Justing Fargas, RB Dominic Rhodes, WR Ronald Curry WR Jerry Porter
- Sit: RB LaMont Jordan, WR Travis Taylor TE Zach Miller
