Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Eagles 17, Jets 10
New York Jets: Why did the Jets acquire Thomas Jones during the offseason? After getting just 25 carries over the last two games, Jones is asking himself that same question. "Most feature backs in this league, they get the ball 20 or 25 times a game," Jones said. "Unfortunately, we haven't been able to do that the last couple of weeks." What's curious is the lack of touches late in games. Jones had only three carries in the second half last week, and never touched the ball after the first play of the fourth quarter… and the Jets had the lead at that time. Whatever the reason, Jones is quickly becoming a fantasy afterthought and the Jets are becoming a bottom-tier team in the league.
- Start: WR Laveranues Coles
- Consider: WR Jerricho Cotchery, RB Thomas Jones
- Sit: QB Chad Pennington, RB Leon Washington, TE Chris Baker
Philadelphia: Will he or won't he? Running back Brian Westbrook has been practicing this week but his status for Sunday is still unknown. Whether or not Westbrook plays, the Eagles should take advantage of weak Jets pass defense. Kevin Curtis or Reggie (the invisible man) Brown could actually be a decent fantasy play this week. Tight End L.J. Smith is testing his injured groin during practice and may suit up. Keep him on your bench anyway until he proves he can stay on the field for a whole game. Working the Eagles favor this week… Andy Reid is 8-0 after a bye and the Eagles are 7-0 all-time versus the Jets.
- Start: QB Donovan McNabb, RB Brian Westbrook(inj), WR Kevin Curtis
- Consider: WR Reggie Brown
- Sit: TE L.J. Smith (inj) TE Matt Schobel, Eagles-D/ST
