Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Lions 23, Broncos 20

Denver: The Broncos are coming off a Monday night overtime loss to the Packers and must now travel to Detriot as they play four of their next five on the road. Running back Travis Henry (ribs) was a late scratch last week and may sit this one out as well. Selvin Young would again the start if Henry can't go. Offensively, the Broncos are moving the ball their just not scoring averaging 17 points per game, ranking 27th in the league. Wide receiver Javon Walker remains sidelined with a knee injury and misses a golden opportunity to go against the worst pass defense in the league. Expect good fantasy games from Cutler, Marshall, and Stokley but not good enough for a win.

  • Start: WR Brandon Marshall, K Jason Elam
  • Consider: QB Jay Cutler, WR Brandon Stokley, RB Selvin Young, TE Tony Scheffler
  • Sit: TE Daniel Graham, WR Javon Walker, RB Travis Henry

Detroit: The Lions are coming off a nice road win at Chicago thanks to four picks of Brian Griese and the strong running of Kevin Jones. Jones has started the last two weeks, has scored in both games and averaging 112 total yards. Expect a big game from Jones this week against the worst rushing defense in the league that just allowed 100+ yards to Ryan Grant of Green Bay. After a fast start Jon Kitna has cooled off and hasn't thrown a touchdown since Week 4. On paper the Denver secondary doesn't represent a good matchup for Kitna… despite Favre's two long tosses on Monday night, the Broncos have been solid against the pass and have one of the best cover corners in the league. Keep Kitna on your bench but give the Lions a mark in the win column.

  • Start: RB Kevin Jones, WR Roy Williams
  • Consider: QB Jon Kitna, WR Calvin Johnson, WR Mike Furrey, WR Shaun McDonald
  • Sit: Lions D/ST RB Tatum Bell, TE Dan Campbell
