Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Redskins 24. Jets 13
New York Jets: The Jets fans have been granted their wish. Quarterback Kellen Clemens will start Sunday when the Jets host the Redskins. This will be the second start for Clemens, who started for an injured Pennington in Week 2. He'll be short-handed however as wide receiver Laveranues Coles did not practice yesterday with a concussion suffered in Sunday's loss to the Bills and will likely be out this Sunday. Justin McCareins will get the start along side Jerricho Cotchery. The Jets have the 30th ranked offense and face a stingy Redskins defense, which hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher and only one 300-yard passer (Tom Brady). Expect the Jets offense to struggle again with running back Thomas Jones gaining modest yardage and Jets fans crying for Pennington by games end.
- Start: N/A
- Consider: RB Thomas Jones, WR Jerricho Cotchery
- Sit: QB Kellen Clemens, WR Laveranues Coles, RB Leon Washington, TE Chris Baker
Washington: The Redskins are looking to get healthy after getting their brains beat in by the Patriots last week. The 52-7 loss is not indicative of how good a team Washington is... New England can make anybody look silly. Washington will take their frustrations out on New York by "grinding it out"as the Jets are terrible against the run making this a good opportunity for Clinton Portis to post his first 100-yd rushing game of the season. Jason Campbell should also find some success against the 26th rated pass defense and should have both Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El at full strength.
- Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley, Redskins D/ST
- Consider: WR Santana Moss, WR Antwaan Randle El, QB Jason Campbell
- Sit: RB Ladell Betts
