Predicted Score: Chargers 23, Vikings 10
Minnesota: Vikings head coach Brad Childress said that QB Tarvaris Jackson looked "significantly" better today at practice and will likely get the starting nod this week against the Chargers. Does it really matter if Jackson or Kelly Holcomb or Brooks Bollinger is under center? The Vikings passing game is atrocious and not respected by any defensive coordinator in the league. Just ask Adrian Peterson who routinely sees eight men at the line of scrimmage every time he touches the ball. Jackson has completed 46 percent of his passes while throwing two touchdowns and five interceptions. More good news for the Vikings offense, leading receiver Bobby Wade is likely out for this game with a hyperextended knee.
- Start: RB Adrian Peterson,
- Consider: TE Visanthe Shiancoe
- Sit: QB Tarvaris Jackson RB Chester Taylor (inj), WR Troy Williamson, WR Bobby Wade, WR Sidney Rice
San Diego: The Chargers are on a three game winning streak and should have no problem extending that streak on the road against the Vikings. By no coincidence Phillip Rivers is throwing the ball less (50 attempts in the last 3 games) and LaDainian Tomlinson is running more. Maybe Norv Turner has seen the light… "It's really what we've done over the last month," Turner said. "We're creating turnovers and we're protecting the ball. If you do those things and you have the talent we have and the playmakers we have, then you're going to be in good shape." Tomlinson and Gates are the playmakers Turner needs and they've been getting the job done, accounting for 77% of San Diego's net yards last week against Houston.
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates,
- Consider: QB Philip Rivers
- Sit: WR Vincent Jackson WR Craig Davis, WR Malcom Floyd, Chargers D/ST
