Predicted Score: Raiders 20, Texans 10
Houston: The Texans have lost three in row and are turning to Sage Rosenfels to end their losing streak… Ouch. Starting quarterback Matt Shaub was concussed last week and although his symptoms are subsiding its unlikely he will play this week. Houston may have their best weapon back as head coach Gary Kubiak seems optimistic that wide receiver Andre Johnson will return. "I would think right now it sure looks that way, but let's see. Let's see how he comes out of today in the morning. Let's see how he does tomorrow. There's a long way to go, but it sure looked like he was making progress toward being ready to go." While Johnson may return, tight end Owen Daniels will likely miss this week with a high ankle sprain. The shuffling of players in and out won't help Houston's chances against the Raiders and could easily be throttled for the second week in a row.
- Start: N/A
- Consider: WR Kevin Walter, RB Ron Dayne
- Sit: QB Sage Rosenfels, RB Ahman Green, TE Owen Daniels, WR Andre Johnson, WR Jacoby Jones, RB Ron Dayne
Oakland: The Raiders haven't made any announcement on the QB front and while it appears Daunte Culpepper will continue to start, Josh McCown did take reps with the first team in practice and could be in line to start this week. Monitor news reports to see if a switch is made. Another switch may be coming at running back as LaMont Jordan continues to struggle and continues to lose carries, not to Dominic Rhodes, but to Justin Fargas who rushed for 61 yards on 12 carries last week against Tennessee. This matchup against Houston doesn't provide any glaring opportunities for the skill players but there aren't any negatives either. Expect Curry or Porter to score with moderate success from the QB (Culpepper/McCown). WR Mike Williams has been waived.
- Start: WR Ronald Curry
- Consider: WR Jerry Porter, Daunte Culpepper RB LaMont Jordan
- Sit: TE Zach Miller
