Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Colts 27, Chargers 17
Indianapolis: The Colts made Super Bowl 41 ½ an interesting contest despite being down their top wideout. Marvin Harrison. He's missed the last two games with a knee injury and continues to be limited in practice. The passing game took another hit last week as wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez dislocated his thumb on the first play and will likely miss this week's contest against San Diego. Aaron Moorehead is in line for the start opposite Reggie Wayne. Despite the receiver woes and their first loss the Colts should rebound against a Chargers team that can't seem to fine their way. Joseph Addai is currently licking his chops after watching game film of Adrian Peterson slash through the San Diego defense and Peyton Manning still has Reggie Wayne and tight end Dallas Clark to drive home the dagger. Colts go on the road to get back on track.
- Start: QB Peyton Manning, RB Joseph Addai, WR Reggie Wayne, K Adam Vinatieri, TE Dallas Clark
- Consider: WR Aaron Moorehead
- Sit: WR Marvin Harrison, WR Anthony Gonzalez
San Diego: Last week's defensive embarrassment will either sink the under-achieving Chargers or inspire them to play their best ball of the season and upset the Colts. What exactly happens is anybody's guess but after giving a league record 296 rushing yards to Adrian Peterson you have to think the Chargers-D will give it their A-game. The problem is, they face one of the best offenses and one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Not a promising proposition. Philip Rivers continues to struggle and hasn't topped the 200-yd passing mark in three games. The QBs ineptitiude has even trickled down to Antonio Gates who had his worst game of the season against Minnesota tallying one catch for 10 yards. I expect the Blue and Gold to put on a better showing but they're facing the wrong team at the wrong time.
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates
- Consider: N/A
- Sit: QB Philip Rivers, WR Vincent Jackson, WR Craig Davis, Chargers D/ST
