Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Saints 30, Rams 20
New Orleans: With four straight wins and impressive 445 yards from Drew Brees last week, the Saints are moving in the right direction and could actually move into a first place tie with Tampa Bay with a win this week over the winless Rams. The Saints are averaging 30 points per game during their winning streak with Reggie Bush receiving around 25 touches per game. The receiving corps is lead by Marques Colston and a rotation of receivers that include Devery Henderson, David Patten, and Lance Moore. If you have to gamble on one of these three give PatteRn a try. He's had two 100-yd games the last four weeks and threw in an 81-yd, 1 TD performance last week. This is a good matchup for Brees and the boys that should lead to 275 yds and a couple scores for the quarterback and an easy win for the Saints.
- Start: QB Drew Brees, RB Reggie Bush, WR Marques Colston
- Consider: TE Eric Johnson, K Olindo Mare, WR David PatteRn
- Sit: WR Devery Henderson, TE Mark Campbell
St. Louis: The Rams have too much talent to post a goose egg for the season but don't expect them to get their first win here. The Saints are on the rise while the Rams are struggling to score. With 99 points scored, they may challenge the record for fewest points scored in a sixteen-game season (140). Running back Steven Jackson will try not to let that happen as he's expected to return from a bulging disc in his back. "We've got to keep him healthy and hopefully he can make it through the whole game," said Bulger, "because I think he can change the game that much." Bulger may be right but more importantly is the play of the offensive line, which has kept Bulger on his back most of the season. A repeat of last week (zero Bulger sacks) will go along way to getting the Rams their first win.
- Start: WR Torry Holt
- Consider: RB Steven Jackson, QB Marc Bulger, WR Isaac Bruce
- Sit: TE Randy McMichael, K Jeff Wilkins WR Drew Bennett
