Predicted Score: Giants 27, Lions 20
New York Giants: The Giants are coming off a loss to a division rival (Dallas) but still sport a 6-3 record with their playoff hopes in tact. Their pass rush (32 sacks) should prove disruptive against Kitna who's spent more time on his back than any quarterback this season. Fantasy owners should take note of Plaxico Burress' decline the last three weeks. During that time, he's caught only 11 passes for 81 yards and admits that the week off did virtually nothing to improve his sprained ankle. "Today is probably the worst it's felt. I don't really think it is going to get better. It's just something I'm going to have to deal with for a while. I'll be glad when it's all over so I can rest it and get it back to healthy." Burress is not expected to sit out but his effectiveness is in questions. Tight end Jeremy Shockey picked up the slack last week with 12 catches and 129 yards. Note: New York has won three straight in Detroit dating to 1988.
- Start: QB Eli Manning, WR Plaxico Burress, TE Jeremy Shockey, RB Brandon Jacobs
- Consider: WR Amani Toomer
- Sit: Giants D/ST RB Derrick Ward, WR Steve Smith
Detroit: Despite their poor defensive rankings the Lions lead the league with 26 takeaways, which along with the Mike Martz passing attack, is largely responsible for Detroit's 6-3 start. The rushing game took a nosedive last week totaling -18 yards and reports that Kevin Jones re-aggravated his foot injury. Jones did practice Wednesday and seems to think his foot is healthy enough to play in two games within 5 days… "I don't see it as being an issue," Jones said. "I've just got to be careful of what I do in practice, and I'll be fine for both." Despite Jones' optimism, don't be surprised to see more of T.J. Duckett this week in order to keep Jones fresh for their Thanksgiving match against Green Bay.
- Start: QB Jon Kitna, WR Roy Williams, WR Calvin Johnson
- Consider: RB Kevin Jones, WR Shaun McDonald
- Sit: WR Mike Furrey, RB Tatum Bell, TE Dan Campbell, Lions D/ST
