Game Preview

Predicted Score: Rams 23, 49ers 6
St. Louis: The Rams won! The Rams won! This leaves the Miami Dolphins as the only winless team in the league and don't look now, but the Rams are actually favored this week…. Why? The 49ers are next up on the schedule. Marc Bulger has tallied back-to-back 300-yd passing games and Steven Jackson returned to action with 22 carries and 100 total yards. Isaac Bruce did re-aggravate his hamstring injury last week so check his availability at gametime. If he doesn't go, Drew Bennett will get the start and could be a good play against the 49ers secondary. Keep your eye on rookie running back Antonio Pittman… he's moved up the depth chart and replaced Brian Leonard as Steven Jackson's backup.
- Start: QB Marc Bulger, RB Steven Jackson, WR Torry Holt
- Consider: WR Isaac Bruce (inj) WR Drew Bennett, K Jeff Wilkins
- Sit: TE Randy McMichael
San Francisco: Things have gotten so bad in San Francisco that Trent Dilfer has been called in to put out the fire. Yep, that's right folks, after another dismal offensive showing, Alex Smith has been benched. And don't be fooled by the shoulder injury cover up… this team needs a change and a move at quarterback is the easiest way to grab a team's attention. The 49ers are last in offense and Frank Gore is running on one leg. He routinely hobbled back to the huddle last week and while you have to admire his toughness, it makes you wonder if he shouldn't just sit out a couple games and rest his sore ankle. Even with Dilfer at the helm this team is woefully bad and doesn't deserve your attention.
- Start: N/A
- Consider: TE Vernon Davis, RB Frank Gore
- Sit: WR Darrell Jackson, QB Trent Dilfer, WR Arnaz Battle, 49ers D/ST
