Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Texans 28, Titans 17
Houston: Without having looked at other predictions around the net, I'm sure I'm one of the few predicting a Texans win. Do I have some kind of man-crush on Matt Schaub? Maybe, but I really don't like to stand in the way of trends and the Titans are on a three-game slide giving up 28, 34, and 35 points in the last three games. With Sage Rosefels at the helm, the Texans lost to Tennessee 38-36 back in Week 7. Granted Tennessee was up big and may have allowed the game to get close in the fourth quarter but Houston is healthy now and should pick on a team that has done a 180 turn in identity both offensively and defensively. The last time I had gut feeling like this, Arizona beat Pittsburgh in Week 4. Gut, don't fail me now!
- Start: QB Matt Schaub, TE Owen Daniels, WR Andre Johnson
- Consider: RB Ron Dayne, WR Kevin Walter
- Sit: RB Ahman Green
Tennessee: What the heck is going on with the Titans? Their weak schedule may still land them a playoff spot but what once looked like a sure thing, is now hanging in the balance. Is it any coincidence that losing DT Albert Haynesworth the last three games has coincided with three straight losses? How about the freakish passing numbers for Vince Young during this stretch - 257, 305, 246 - while the running game has dropped off the map. Is it mating season for LenWhale White? Where has he gone? Only 27 carries the last three games totaling 81 yards. Tennessee needs to regain their identity before its too late.
- Start: QB Vince Young
- Consider: TE Bo Scaife RB LenDale White
- Sit: RB Chris Brown, Titans D/ST, WR Justin Gage, TE Ben Troupe, WR Roydell Williams, WR Eric Moulds
