Predicted Score: Chargers 20, Chiefs 13
Kansas City: Four straight losses for the Chiefs (including three at home) have this team circling the drain. Quarterback Brodie Croyle is now feeling Damon Huard's pain as Croyle skipped practice this week due to a sore back otherwise known as a poor offensive line. The KC quarterbacks are getting beat up with or without a running game but thankfully there's only 5 more games on the schedule. Kolby Smith was the lone bright spot last week rushing 30 times for 150 against the weak Raiders secondary. Don't be surprised if he gets 30 more carries this week against San Diego and don't be surprised if the result is the same… another Chiefs loss.
- Start: TE Tony Gonzalez, RB Kolby Smith
- Consider: N/A
- Sit: QB Brodie Croyle, WR Dwayne Bowe, RB Larry Johnson, WR Samie Parker, WR Eddie Kennison, RB Priest Holmes
San Diego: The Chargers are looking for revenge as the Chiefs came to San Diego won convincingly earlier this season 30-16. The tables have turned however, as San Diego has a legitimate shot at the AFC West title, while the Chiefs are simply playing out the string. Philip Rivers is coming off his best games of the season going 25 of 35 for 249 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to tight end Antonio Gates. Gates has traditionally done well against Kansas City but remarkably hasn't scored in the last two meetings. Tomlinson, who's getting more involed in the passing game, should turn in a workmanlike effort against a good Chiefs defense and propel the Chargers to victory.
- Start: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates
- Consider: QB Philip Rivers
- Sit: WR Vincent Jackson WR Craig Davis, WR Chris Chambers, Chargers D/ST
