Game Preview

Predicted Score: Colts 24, Jaguars 20
Indianapolis: Meeting number two between these teams takes on added importance with Jacksonville at 8-3 sitting just one game behind the 9-2 Colts. Indianapolis won the week seven battle 29-7; a game in which Jacksonville was without David Garrard for three quarters. The Colts will be short-handed once again as Marvin Harrison appears unlikely to play giving rookie Anthony Gonzalez another start. Running back Joseph Addai was in and out of last week's victory against Atlanta after sustaining a sprained neck. He is expected to pay but may give away carries to Kenton Keith. Notwithstanding the 44-17 beatdown the Jags put on Indy last December, you have to give the edge to the Colts here at home. The improved defense and Peyton Manning's savvy should be enough but expect a close game with Jacksonville having the ball at the end with a chance to win.
- Start: QB Peyton Manning, RB Joseph Addai, WR Reggie Wayne, K Adam Vinatieri, TE Dallas Clark
- Consider: WR Anthony Gonzalez, RB Kenton Keith
- Sit: WR Marvin Harrison
Jacksonville: The Jaguars have a golden opportunity here and they fully understand it. "We know what's in front of us," Jaguars running back Fred Taylor said. "We know what's at stake." A loss to the Colts would all but give Indy the division and leave Jacksonville fighting for a wildcard spot. The Jags are on a roll, but is it enough to overcome their rival on the road? They've won three straight (TEN, SD, BUF) and have a 4-1 record away from their home turf. The running game with Taylor and Jones-Drew is in full swing (ranked 3rd ) and David Garrard still has not thrown an INT. A nice recipe for success but getting pressure on Manning is the key… something very few teams have done this season.
- Start: RB Maurice Jones-Drew
- Consider: Jaguars D/ST QB David Garrard, RB Fred Taylor
- Sit: WR Dennis Northcutt, WR Ernest Wilford, TE Marcedes Lewis WR Matt Jones, K Josh Scobee
