Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Panthers 17, 49ers 13
Carolina: A tough game to call considering the Panthers haven't won a game at home this season, in fact they haven't won a game at home in over a year. Their last victory came Nov. 19, 2006 against the Rams. Yikes. Carolina has won 5 of the last 7 against San Francisco and despite the 49ers victory against Arizona last week, the 49ers rank last in points scored and still have Trent Dilfer at quarterback. The Panthers are expecting Vinny Testaverde to start this week as long as his back doesn't act up. David Carr and Matt Moore were pathetic in relief as Carolina's offense could only muster two field goals against the Saints. DeShaun Foster should return to his normal 60-80 yd output. This game is a notch above the MIA/NYJ tilt on the snooze-o-meter.

- Sit: QB Jake Delhomme, WR Keary Colbert, RB DeAngelo Williams, WR Drew Carter WR Dwayne Jarrett, TE Jeff King
San Francisco: This shows you how bad the 49ers are offensively… they scored 37 points last week and still rank last in points scored. Their victory over the Cardinals ended an 8-game losing streak but as the saying goes, one streak ends and another begins. Frank Gore owners are crying "too little, too late" after his monster game last week (214 yds, 2 TDs) and while you have to admire his courage for continuing to play with a bum ankle its hard to believe he'll repeat that huge effort again this season. The 49ers passing games ranks last in the league with Trent Dilfer or Alex Smith at the helm and should be avoided at all costs.
- Start: N/A
- Consider: TE Vernon Davis, RB Frank Gore
- Sit: WR Darrell Jackson, QB Alex Smith, WR Arnaz Battle, 49ers D/ST
