Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Lions 23, Chiefs 10
Kansas City: The Chiefs may look across the field this week and think they're looking in a mirror. Kansas City is riding a seven-game losing streak while the Lions are on six-game slide of their own. The offense and defense can take their share of the blame for the Chiefs woes, as both have been pitiful the last six weeks but let's give credit where credit is due. Kansas City's 31st ranked offense is now making Tony Gonzalez an iffy fantasy play (3 catches 17 yards) and running back Kolby Smith can't gain yardage against any team that isn't named the Oakland Raiders.
- Start: TE Tony Gonzalez
- Consider: WR Dwayne Bowe, RB Kolby Smith
- Sit: QB Brodie Croyle, RB Larry Johnson, WR Samie Parker, WR Eddie Kennison, K Dave Rayner
Detroit: Well, somebody has to win this game and if Detroit can somehow manage to be in front after three quarters they should find smooth sailing to the finish line as the Chiefs have scored a fourth-quarter point since Week 9! Wide receiver Roy Williams was put on IR this week with his sprained knee but with Shaun McDonald, Calvin Johnson, and Mike Furrey still in the mix the Lions have enough fire power to rip through the Chiefs old (corners) and inexperienced (safties) secondary. The running game with Kevin Jones may or may not be an afterthought this week, you just can't tell with Martz. Jones rushed 23 times against Dallas then only received 5 carries against San Diego last week.
- Start: QB Jon Kitna, WR Shaun McDonald, WR Calvin Johnson
- Consider: RB Kevin Jones, WR Mike Furrey
- Sit: WR Roy Williams, TE Dan Campbell
