Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Vikings 17, Redskins 14
Washington: The Redskins must continue to win to keep their playoff hopes alive, a tall task considering Todd Collins already has two wins as the starting quarterback… how many does he really have in the bag? Washington will want to run the ball as much as they can with Portis and Betts but being successful against the Vikings defense is another story. Minnesota is number one in the league against the run giving up only 68 yards per game. Look for Cooley to see plenty of passes his way but playing out of their comfort zone and without their starting quarterback will prove too much for the Skins this week. Better luck next year.
- Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley
- Consider: WR Santana Moss
- Sit: WR Antwaan Randle El, RB Ladell Betts, QB Todd Collins, Redskins D/ST
Minnesota: The Vikings overcame three Tarvaris Jackson INTs last week beating the Bears 20-13 marking their fifth straight win. A sixth straight win coupled with a Saints loss will put them in the playoffs as a wildcard. The Vikings have won three of the last four against Washington. Wide receiver Sidney Rice suffered an ankle sprain last week that will likely keep him out of this game, but does it really matter? The Vikings are better off keeping the ball on the ground with Taylor and Peterson than letting a mediocre (at best) inexperienced quarterback decided their playoff fate. We'll see if Brad Childress thinks the same.
- Start: RB Adrian Peterson
- Consider: QB Tarvaris Jackson RB Chester Taylor, WR Bobby Wade
- Sit: TE Visanthe Shiancoe WR Troy Williamson, WR Sidney Rice
