Predicted Score: Vikings 30, 49ers 10
San Francisco: Alex Smith has been cleared for "light throwing" but likely won't return this week much to the chagrin of the 49er faithful who witnessed Trent Dilfer throw four interceptions last week. Ahh, it doesn't matter anyway… San Francisco has lost nine out of its last ten and posses the worst passing offense in the league. So what's the silver lining for the 49ers? They've won eight straight games against Minnesota in San Francisco but I just can't bring myself to ride that trend… the Vikes in a laugher.
- Start: TE Vernon Davis
- Consider: RB Frank Gore
- Sit: WR Darrell Jackson, QB Trent Dilfer, WR Arnaz Battle, 49ers D/ST
Minnesota: That "Adrian Peterson" guy is good, isn't he? After missing two weeks with torn PCL, the rookie made Lions' defenders look silly on his way to 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 carries. Chester Taylor chipped in with 70 yards of his own and another score as Minnesota throttled Detroit 42-10. The Vikings will take their ground-show on the road this week, facing a 49ers team that's mediocre against the run. Tarvaris Jackson posted his first 200-yd passing game of the season but remember, that was against the Lions defense. Look for Jackson to sink back to normal but as long as he's able to hand-off the Vikings should be in good shape.
- Start: RB Adrian Peterson, RB Chester Taylor
- Consider: N/A
- Sit: QB Tarvaris Jackson, TE Visanthe Shiancoe WR Troy Williamson, WR Bobby Wade, WR Sidney Rice
