Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Cowboys 38, Lions 17
Dallas: With the Lions giving up TDs and yardage at will to both quarterbacks and running backs this could be a blowout by halftime. Detroit has allowed 24 passing TDs (second most in the league), which bodes well for Romo who already has 33 TDs on the season. Terrell Owens has scored at least one touchdown in his last seven games and has fourteen for the season. Expect that number to increase this week. Marion Barber continues to see more playing time than Julius Jones and is extensively used in the fourth quarter. Last week against the Packers Barber received 18 touches to Jones' 10. A roster spot remains open for Terry Glenn who continues to rehabe from knee surgery. While he's not expected back this week, the fact he hasn't been put on IR suggests the Cowboys expect him back at some point this season.
- Start: QB Tony Romo, WR Terrell Owens, TE Jason Witten RB Marion Barber
- Consider: RB Julius Jones, WR Patrick Crayton, Cowboys D/ST
- Sit: WR Terry Glenn (inj)
Detroit: Jon Kitna's ten-win prediction is quickly flying out the window as the Lions have dropped four-straight games including a blowout loss to Minnesota last week. To make matters worse, Roy Williams could miss the rest of the season with an injured posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He is aiming for Week 17 as a return date. WR Shaun McDonald will start opposite Calvin Johnson with Mike Furrey playing his usual slot position. In case you were wondering the Lions occasionally run the ball and do have a starting running back. His name is Kevin Jones. He carried three times for 1 yard last week and will be lucky to post those numbers this week unless the Lions happen to score first.
- Start: QB Jon Kitna, WR Calvin Johnson, WR Mike Furrey, WR Shaun McDonald
- Consider: N/A
- Sit: RB Tatum Bell, Lions D/ST WR Roy Williams, TE Dan Campbell
